SRINAGAR, June 17: MTM Foundation School, Chandilora bagged 21 gold, 19 sliver and 16 bronze medals in the Wushu Tourney which concluded at Tangmarg here today.
In the tournament, being organised by District Wushu Association, Baramulla, New Convent School, Malmoo Magam, also secured 15 gold, 12 silver and 11 bronze, whereas Tigers Academy of Wushu claimed 16 gold, 9 sliver and 15 bronze and Hafizullha Sports Academy pocketed 18 gold, 15 sliver and 14 bronze medals.
On the concluding day today, Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Hassan Mir, was the chief guest, who distributed awards and mementos among the players who performed well during the tournament.
While speaking, Mir called upon the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) to hold sports coaching programmes for students in different sports activities to channelize their talent.
“We have to take initiatives to encourage the youth and provide them a platform to utilise their services for the betterment of nation”, he added.
He asked the youth to take active part in all sports activities as sound mind needs sound body.
Minister asked the youth that the “World is yours and it is your choice how you shape the ideas for sustainable career for yourself and society”.
“If you want to be on top of the world, use your time judiciously”, he maintained.
President District Wushu Association Baramulla, Athar Sajad, general secretary, Jabeena Akther and joint secretary Khursheed-ul- Alam Wani were also present on the occasion.
