Webinar on ‘Resilience & Coping Strategy’ held

JAMMU, June 11: Psychological Counselling Cell, Anti Drug & Rehabilitation Cell of Govt College for Women (GCW) Parade today organized a webinar on the topic, ‘Resilience and Coping Strategies’ for faculty and students of the College.
The speaker of the webinar was VK Singh, Director General of Police-cum-Commandant General, Home Guards/Civil Defence/SDRF, J&K. The speaker highlighted the numerous benefits of resilient life which include decrease depressive symptoms and increased emotional well-being, improved working memory, better sleep, strong immune system functioning, improved relationships and effective coping and also suggested some tips to build resilience like self-discovery, self care, keeping hope, nurture positive view of self and focus on gratitude.
Convener IQAC, Prof SK Dharin presented welcome address, whereas the event was organised under the guidance of College Principal, Prof (Dr) SP Sarswat.
In his key note address, Prof Dharin mentioned that resilience is an inborn trait that helps all biological entities, the animal kingdom in specific to come out from stressful or unwanted conditions and help to adjust in the environment.
Dr Piyali Arora, convenor of the Cell coordinated the programme, whereas Dr Palak Malhotra, Dr Gurpreet Kour, Prof Jyoti Bahl, Prof Meenakshi Jamwal, Prof Silony Chirag, Dr Rakesh Kumar Pandit, Dr Pervaiz Ahmed and Dr Ramesh were part of the organising committee and the vote of thanks was presented by Dr Gurpreet Kour.
