Ganderbal Gladiators clinch T20 title

Ganderbal, May 31: In the ongoing Intra District T-20 Cricket Tournament of Ganderbal Premier league organised by 5 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion (JAT) under the aegis of Headquarter 3 Sector Rashtriya Rifles the final match of the tournament was played at Shaheed Commando Shabir Malik Sports Stadium, Gadoora here today.
The final was played between Ganderbal Gladiators and Star Eleven, Safapora . Star eleven safapora won the toss and elected to bat first and made 111 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Ganderbal Gladiators chased the target in 16.2 overs and won the match by 4 wickets. Sayim Mustafa of Ganderbal Gladiators team was declared as the man of the match, man of the series and best batsman of the tournament, while Mehraj-ud-Din Sofi of Ganderbal Gladiators team was declared as best bowler. A total of 68 teams from dist ganderbal participated in the tournament played over 45 days.
RS Chib, Sports Minister, J&K was the chief guest on the occasion. A large number of civilians, Army officers and district officials enjoyed the close match between the two finalist teams. Among others present on the occasion were Addl DC Ganderbal, Distt congress president, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports District Sports Officer Ganderbal, Officiating Commander HeadQuarter 3 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, Commanding Officer 5 Rashtriya Rifles Batttalion (JAT) and several civil dignitaries.
The Sports Minister distributed prized among the winners and runners-up teams on the occasion.
Speaking on this occasion Chib encouraged the youths to participate in such events whole heartedly. He complimented the army and the dist sports authorities for successful completion of the tournament and promised to conduct more such events for the youths of the district.
