Speaker announces Rs 85 lakh for development works

SRINAGAR, June 18: Speaker Legislative Assembly, Mubarak Gul today conducted a whirlwind tour of different areas of his Eidgah Constituency and took stock of various under construction development works.
Mr. Gul during his visit to Nawabazaar and Sayeed Hameed Pora, directed PDD for immediately repairing, renovating and wherever required replacing the rotten electricity polls with new ones and asked PDD to install street lights at places where they have gone out of order. He also directed R&B Department to construct footpath from Nawabazaar to Jamaloto Chowk and carry out repair and maintenance work on lanes, drains and dilapidated roads.
The Speaker also directed for immediate macadamization of the road from Nawakadal to Khankah Sokhta and carrying out repair of the lane from Khanabhawan Nawakadal near Malbab Saheb Shrine.
Mr. Gul also paid obeisance at Malbab Saheb Shrine and discussed various issues for its beautification with officials. He also directed officers for immediate repair and renovation of various lanes and drains of Mirjampora Nawakadal Srinagar and replacing the damaged manhole covers. On the occasion he issued directions to Executive Engineer PDD for replacing the damaged electricity polls and wires.
At Tibetan Colony Eidgah, Mr Gul was informed that against the proposed construction of 36 dwelling units, 18 have been completed and the construction work on the remaining is in progress. He also inspected the construction work of Eidgah drain which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 20 lakh on both sides and scheduled to be completed within four months.
The Speaker also visited Ganderpora Safakadal (Tangbag) and directed for immediate repair and renovation of the lanes and drains and macadamization of the damaged roads.
Later, the Speaker also visited Noorbagh hospital and took stock of the progress of construction work. The 30 bed hospital has been constructed at a cost of Rs 1154 lakhs and so far Rs 668 lakhs have been expended.
Mr Gul was informed that the structure of the hospital building is complete and hopefully the building would be ready within 3 months.
The Speaker also announced Rs 80 lakh for the construction of community centre at Noorbagh from his CDF.
