*Akhnoor Cricket Club beat Jourian Warriors by 23 runs

JAMMU, June 19: First Pitamber Lal Sharma Memorial Cricket Tournament was inaugurated at Govt Higher Secondary School Akhnoor, wherein Akhnoor Cricket Club beat Jourian Warriors by 23 runs in inaugural tie, here today.
The tournament was inaugurated by chief guest Sham Singh Langeh (General Secretary JKCA District Jammu), in presence of guest of honour Sunny Bral (Manager Singh Challenger CC Akhnoor) and special guest Atul Sudan (vice president Press Club Akhnoor). The tournament is being played on knockout basis, organised by Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor.
In his address, the chief guest appealed both teams to play with team spirit and discipline, whereas Atul Sudan (vice president Press Club Akhnoor) said that sports activities have a significant impact on the social and mental development of youth adding that games inculcate leadership qualities and imbibe spirit of discipline.
Batting first Akhnoor CC scored 151 by losing eight wickets in stipulated 20 overs wherein Deepak Sharma made 37off 21 balls, whereas Koushal Sharma scored 21 runs and Sunil and Ajay Sharma contributed 19 and 18 runs respectively. From bowling side, Randeep Singh got three wickets, while Sandeep Singh clinched two wickets and Ajay Sharma and Vansh shared one wicket each.
In reply, Jourian Warriors failed to chase the target and bundled out at 128 runs. Lucky made 28 runs, Randeep scored 18 runs and Abhishek contributed 10 runs. From bowling side, Anshu and Nishant shared three wickets each while Ajay, Parveen and Koshal clinched one wicket each.
Nishant Singh was adjudged with man of the match for his overall performance, whereas Sonu Malhotra and Rajinder Sharma were acted as umpires and Nikhil Jamwal was scorer.
