AKHNOOR, June 23: JKP XI scripted a thrilling 1-run win over Friends Cricket Club (FCC) Akhnoor to advance in the ongoing 5th Pawan Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor at Government Higher Secondary School Ground, here.
Batting first, JKP XI scored 139 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Pankaj Ladda was the top scorer with 29 runs off 17 balls, studded with 1 boundary and 3 sixes, while RK Bhat scored 20 off 16 balls with 3 fours and one six. Majid chipped in with 18 runs. For FCC, Parveen Kesar, Parvenn Sharma and Jaipal Singh scalped 2 wickets each, while Amit Singh claimed one wicket.
FCC, in reply lost its last wicket on the penultimate ball of the match at the total of 138 runs, thus lost the match by 1 run in an exciting contest. Rohit played a brilliant innings of 45 runs off 44 balls, while Suresh Kumar and Jimmy Mangotra contributed 23 and 22 runs to the total respectively. For JKP XI, Rajesh Gill was the pick of the bowlers, who captured 5 important wickets, while Majid, Suman, RK Bhat and Sumesh claimed one wicket each. Rajesh Gill was adjudged man of the math for his brilliant bowling display.
