JAMMU, June 23: With an objective of bringing broader unity among the State employees, several employees’ unions and associations today framed a united platform with the name – J&K Govt Employees and Workers United Front.
The decision in this regard was taken after a day long session of the representatives of J&K Govt Employees Joint Action Committee-R, J&K Employees Joint Action Committee Kashmir and J&K Coordination Committee of Employees Association and some independent unions held in Srinagar under the chairmanship of veteran trade unionist Ram Kumar Sharma.
The representatives of various employees organizations had threadbare discussion on the agenda regarding broad based unity among employees and implementation of agreement reached with the Government on Sept 15, 2011. It was felt by the cadre that broad based united platform was need of the hour because no single group / faction of the employees was in position to get the agreement implemented by the State Government. The members thus decided to frame a single platform to fight for the cause of State Government and PSU employees and constituted J&K Govt Employees and Workers United Front. They also finalized the demand charter and chalked out next strategy. It was also decided to take a decision on next course of action in meeting being held at Srinagar on June 24.
Prominent among those who participated in the session included- Ram Kumar Sharma, Rafiq Ahmed Khaniyari, Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Shakeel Ahmed Kuchey, Maqbool Ahmed Ganai, Balwan Singh Jamwal, Ishtiyaq Ahmed Beigh, Javed Ahmed Akhoon, Bashir Ahmd Mir, Khursheed Ahmed Dewani, Mohd Shafi Bhat, Showkat Ahmed Nowsheri, Farooq Ahmed, Mohd Afzal Bhat, Sanjay Dhar, Imtiaz Ahmed Khan, Mushtaq Ahmed Baba, Molvi Mohd Ramzan and Abdul Rashid Nazar.
