Drug peddler arrested; bovines smuggling bids foiled

*6 vehicles seized for illegal mining

JAMMU, July 17: Chenani Police arrested a drug peddler, while Nagrota and Jhajjar Kotli Police foiled bovines smuggling bids.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Police Station Chenani led by SHO Charanjeet Singh laid a naka and intercepted a Maruti Van bearing registration number JK14D-8478.
During checking, police team recovered 16 grams heroin and arrested one person, who was identified as Rafaqat Ali, son of Mohammad Shaffi, a resident of Ward Number 12 District Udhampur.
A case under FIR Number 102/2021 under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chenani and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Nagrota laid a naka and intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK02CA-7157.
During checking, police team rescued 21 bovine animals from the vehicle, while the hunt was launched to nab the cattle smuggler(s).
A case under FIR Number 326/2021 under relevant sections has been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation.
The bovines smuggling bid was foiled by SHO Nagrota Inspector Mohammad Shoket under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Parupkar Singh.
However, a team from Police Station Jhajjar Kotli led by SHO Inspector Devinder Singh under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Parupkar Singh laid a naka and intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK02CD-7887.
During checking, police team rescued 19 bovine animals and seized the vehicle.
A case under FIR Number 127/2021 under Sections 188 IPC and 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and investigation started.
In another incident, teams from Police Post Jourian led by Inspector Kunal Singh Jamwal, Police Post Pouni Chak led by SI Dilawar Kumar and Police Post Chinore led by SI Avtar Krishan raided at different locations in their respective areas and seized six different vehicles involved in illegal mining.
The mining was being done in violation of order of High Court of J&K.
In order to strictly implement the drive against illegal mining and to tighten noose against the violators of the law, Jammu Police has initiated strict action.
