DPs submit memorandum to PM

JAMMU, June 27:  A delegation of Displaced Persons from PoK called on Prime Minister at Srinagar and submitted a memorandum with charter of demands the other day.
The delegation under the banner of MJR-47 Movement for Justice of PoK Refugees demanded comprehensive and one time settlement of the displaced families from Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir. They pointed out that three generations of DPs have perished in the camp in Jammu region but Government has failed to provide them justice.  The political parties only befooled these people during elections and made tall claims but nothing was done for their welfare.  They demanded relief package to the tune of at least Rs 30 lakh per family and till the final settlement they should be paid cash, ration and other relief at par with Kashmiri migrants.
The delegation also demanded that all the pending nearly 9500 DP families be registered whose cases have been rejected. They said nearly 12 lakh population of these DPs was at present in the State and outside.  Their children be accorded reservation in jobs and professional colleges/ institutes. Special recruitment drive be launched for the  youth of the DPs.  They further demanded that proper housing colonies be raised for the DP families. Convener, Jagjeet Singh Sudan was leading the delegation.
