BJP activists protest against Tehsildar, block Poonch road

SUNDERBANI, Aug 4: Some leaders and workers of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under the chairmanship member of District Development Council (DDC) Sunderbani, Rajinder Sharma blocked Jammu- Poonch highway at Sunderbani Chowk and held protest dharna against local Tehsildar .

The protesting workers sat on dharna on the road at the main Chowk on the highway and disrupted movement of traffic for some time. They alleged misbehave by Tehsildar with a senior BJP leader Krishan Lal and were demanding transfer of Tehsildar Sunderbani. The movement of vehicles remained disrupted for some time on the busy highway.
Later, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Sunderbani, Vinod Kumar Benhal rushed to the spot and assured the people to hold inquiry and take necessary action in this regard. Then the people dispersed from the site.
Reports said one BJP activist, Krishan Lal claimed that Tehsildar Sunderbani misbehaved with him about a week ago. He took up the matter with other party leaders at Sunderbani. Upon this, the BJP activists came out on the road and disrupted smooth movement of vehicles today.
Tehsildar, Sunderbani, Ravi Shanker while talking to the media later claimed that some local BJP leaders were trying to approach for some illegal works for the past some time which he refused to entertain . He said general public was happy and they had no problem with him or his staff but some elements’ shops have been closed now. He alleged that one Krishan Lal was raising baseless charges against him and he instigated other people to hold protest and block highway.
