Dutta CC wins 1st Divender Pal Singh Cosco Cricket title

SIMBAL, July 1: Defeating Knight Riders Cricket Club in a thiller by one wicket in the summit clash, Dutta Cricket Club Talab Tilloo lifted the title trophy of the 1st Divender Pal Singh Cosco Ball Cricket Tournament at Government High School Ground, Simbal Camp, here today.
The tournament, held in the memory of Divender Singh Crown was organized by Barjinder Singh, Gangandeep Singh and Manpreet Singh, under the overall supervision of GS Michael, organizing secretary.
Earlier, batting first, Knight Riders Simbal Camp scored 72 runs in the stipulated 12 overs. Klusnar top scored with 17 runs, while Raja and Pawan contributed 13 runs each. For Duta CC, Vickle took 3 wickets, while Amarpreet and Bhanu bagged 2 wickets each. Manpreet and Ankush also claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Dutta CC chased the target in a close contest in 11.4 overs by losing 9 wickets, to win the match by one wicket. Ankush played a magnificent innings of 33 runs with the help of 2 fours and 3 sixes, while Harinder Pal Singh Bawa contributed 24 runs to the total. For Knight Riders, Amarpreet Singh bagged 3 wickets, while Parmeet, Mani and Klusnar claimed 2 wickets each. Ankush of Dutta Club was adjudged man of the match, while Harinder Singh Bawa of the same Club was declared man of the series for scoring over 100 runs and taking 10 wickets.
The match was officiated by Talvinder Singh and Gagandeep Singh as umpires, while Gagandeep Singh was the scorer.
Dr Karan Bhagat, secretary PCCI and member State Advisory Board was the chief guest on the occasion, while Janak Singh was the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest advised the youth to participate in the sports activities, which he said will help them not to derail from the mainstream.
