JAMMU, Aug 21: Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association today granted permission to two more players including Abdul Samad and Umran Malik to participate in the 2nd leg of IPL-2021, which is scheduled to be held in UAE from September 19 to October 15.
Both the players will represent Sunrisers Hyderabad and will leave for UAE with the team on September 1. “It is perhaps for the first time that five players of JKCA are participating in the IPL during one season,” said member Administrator Brig (Retd) Anil Gupta.
Abdul Samad, a highly talented all-rounder who had represented Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2020 and first leg of 2021, has again been selected by the management of the team as a playing member, whereas Umran Malik is a promising pacer who has been chosen as a net-bowler by the management. Both of them have been practicing regularly at JKCA ground along with other senior players.
“Their selection for IPL will act as a great motivator for other budding and aspiring players from the region,” stated Brig Anil Gupta.
“The players have been granted permission after due deliberations by the three members of the Sub-Committee JKCA. The permission has been granted subject to the proviso that if any player’s service is needed by JKCA or for representing J&K team, they would be relieved from the IPL and sent to Jammu/Srinagar under the arrangements of Hyderabad Sunrisers,” informed Brig Gupta.
Earlier, the JKCA had permitted three players to participate in 2nd leg of IPL-21 includingYudhvir Singh Charak and Rasikh Salam Dar form part of the Mumbai Indians team, while Mujtaba Yousaf will be part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
