The list of Junior Selection Committee (men) includes Arun Sharma (Chairman), Zahoor Bhat, Jagtar Singh and Vikrant Taggar and the Junior Selection Committee for women comprises Pratibha Wadhera Bhasin (chairperson), Madhu Sharma and Kausar Ali Mir.
The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) of JKCA in marathon sittings at Srinagar and Jammu conducted grueling interviews of aspirants before finalizing the list of selectors for the men and women junior teams. In order to keep pace with the cricket calendar 2021 issued by the BCCI, the Sub-Committee, JKCA had mandated the CAC to commence the process of selecting the members of Selection Committees for men and women junior teams for the current cricketing season.
Explaining further, Brig Anil Gupta, Member Administrator stated, “For the first time in the cricketing history of J&K, a transparent selection process has been followed to ensure that the chances of favouritism/discrimination are ruled out. Applications were invited through open advertisements by the CAC. Strict qualitative requirements (QR) and terms & conditions were specified to hunt for the best talent. After scrutiny of the applications, the selected candidates were called for an interview. The best among them have finally been selected by the CAC and submitted their recommendations to the Sub-Committee.”
“Nineteen applications were received for women selectors, out of which 11 were rejected for not meeting the QR. Similarly, 12 applications were received for men selectors, out of which three were rejected. The entire process was supervised by International Cricketer Mithun Manhas, Member Cricket, JKCA,” he said, adding, the three-member Sub-Committee has accepted the recommendations of the CAC.
Brig Gupta said that the preparatory camps for both Men (U19) and Women (U19) will commence in a few days both at Jammu and Srinagar.
