JAMMU, July 5: Major Ranbir Singh Jamwal was accorded heroic reception today after his arrival to his native village Badhori in district Samba.
Major Jamwal, son of the soil, who scaled Mount Everest for the second time, is the first person from the State who has conquered the highest peak in world twice.
On his arrival to his village, a function was organized by the J&K Youth Cultural Society (JKYCS), Bari Brahmana at the Sidco Chowk, Bari Brahmana, during which prominent figures of the town and his native village besides large number of youth were present.
Major Jamwal was garlanded and welcomed by the prominent citizens of the society including Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Bari Brahmana, Saudagar Mal Jangral, who was the special invitee to the function.
While speaking on the occasion, the speakers lauded the efforts and courage of Major Jamwal for scaling Mount Everest for the second time and hoped that he will keep on adding feathers to his cap and will bring more laurels to his native village as well as State.
