SRINAGAR Aug 29: Authorities in North Kashmir have ordered an investigation into the death of a pregnant woman at Check Chandger village of Bandipora district.
The woman, identified as Marifa, wife of Shaban Dar, was taken to the Hajin Community Health Centre today, where doctors declared her dead. The woman’s family, on the other hand, believes she died as a result of a painkiller given to her by an ASHA employee last night after she complained of pain.
“She was nine months pregnant and she died from the drug, along with her child. We want a comprehensive inquiry to be carried out so that the guilty are brought to justice,” a family member said.
“An investigation into the incident has been ordered, and I have urged that the inquiry committee produces its report as soon as possible,” Ajaz Ahmad, Block Medical Officer Hajin told Excelsior. “If the family disagrees it can file a complaint with the investigation committee, BMO said.
