JAMMU, July 5: State secretary, Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), Sumeet Magotra today flayed the Municipal Council Udhampur for blackmailing the people on the pretext of sanitation usage charges.
Magotra said it has come to fore that the authorities of Municipal Council Udhampur are blackmailing the people that if they would not pay the sanitation usage charges, they will be denied services related to the Municipal Council like Birth and Death Certificates, House Site Plan, etc.
The INTUC leader said it is unfortunate that instead of spreading awareness among people to ensure public voluntarily participation in collecting revenue for Municipal Council through sanitation usage charges, the authorities are blackmailing the general public.
He appealed the district administration to look into the issue, which is very sensitive and needed a friendly environment instead of blackmailing the people.
