Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, July 5: National Commission for Minorities, on a petition seeking release of Justice Ansari Commission report has asked Union Minister of Home Affairs  to  look into the prayer of the petitioner.
Tsering Namgyal Shanoo, a member of the Minority Commission has forwarded the plea of a Jammu based resident Rajnish Sharma to the secretary, Union Ministry of Home Affairs with the direction to look into the matter.
Mr Sharma, vide his complaint dated June 10, 2013 has sought intervention and necessary direction from the Commission for justice to the minority community.
In his plea, the Jammu resident has also apprised the Commission that in 1989, during the anti-Sikh riots in Jammu region , the J&K Government constituted a probe panel to fix responsibility on the culprits who butchered over a dozen members of the minority community (Sikhs) and also to give relief to the aggrieved parties. He alleged that the probe panel which is better known as Justice Ansari Commission, had submitted a detailed report to the J&K Government in the same year (1989), with recommendations but unfortunately the State Government never released this report or made public.  Over  23 years have passed but victims are still waiting for justice.
It has also been urged to the National Minority Commission to also award any other compensation to the victims as it deems appropriate.
