Science College thrashes ICC by 9 wkts

JAMMU, June 2: The formidable side of GGM Science College XI, Jammu thrashed International Cricket Club (ICC) in a one-sided contest by 9 wickets to move into the next round of the ongoing 3rd Pran Nath Memorial One-Day Cricket Tournament, being organised by the Jammu wing of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
Earlier, the young bowling trio of Deepak Singh Manhas, Bandeep Singh and Mayank Goutam plotted collapse of the ICC team by bundling them out for a paltry total of 81 runs in 26.5 overs. Right-arm wrist spinner Deepak apart from being most successful bowler was the most economical of all, who scalped 3 wickets by conceding just 9 runs in his 4 overs, while slow bowler Bandeep and speedster Mayank claimed 2 wickets each by giving away 14 runs each in their equal of 6 overs. Rohit and Varun Choudhary also claimed one wicket each for the team. Sahil (21), Aman (11) and Manzoor (8) were the main contributors for ICC.
Science College, in reply sailed on a superb opening wicket partnership of 75 runs between Sahil Bhalwal and Avinash to chase the target in just 9.4 overs, losing the wickets of Avinash only, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Sahil contributed 36 runs off 27 balls with the help of 6 boundaries and one massive six, Avinash made 35 runs in 29 balls, which included 7 fours. For ICC, Imran was the only successful, who claimed the wicket of Avinash.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik and Mohan Lal as umpire, while Raghav Verma was the scorer.
Meanwhile, JKCA Blues would lock horns with JK Public School in the semifinals of Under-14 Cricket Tournament at the same venue tomorrow.
