Army organizes football tourney

JAMMU, July 6: The Rashtriya Rifles located at Bhadarwah under the aegis of the Counter Insurgency Force (Delta), organized a ‘Football Tournament’ the final of which concluded, here yesterday.
The Tournament had started on June 21, 2013 and concluded here on July 5, 2013.
The Tournament was held in collaboration with GR Azad Sports Club, Bhaderwah at Degree College Ground, Bhaderwah.
The main objective of the Tournament was to launch a campaign against drugs and motivate youths towards sports as a part of ongoing process of winning hearts and minds of the local population.
12 teams participated in the tournament, consisting players from civil sports club and colleges.
The matches were played as per the existing rules on knockout basis.
A total of 10 matches were played between the teams of Pool-A and Pool- B during the tournament.
The final match was played between Army Team and Javid Azad Football Club, Bhadarwah, wherein the Army team won by 4 goals.
The participating footballers during the concluding function said that the engagement of youth in such activities will do a good for their overall growth and their energy will be utilised in right direction which in turn will contribute in Nation building.
