17th District Budgam Taekwondo Championship gets underway

Dignitaries alongwith taekwondo players inaugurating 17th District Budgam Taekwondo Championship.

BUDGAM, July 7: Organised by District Budgam Taekwondo Association, under the aegis of Jammu and Kashmir Taekwondo Association affiliated to Taekwondo Federation of India, the 17th District Budgam Taekwondo Championship got underway here yesterday.
This championship is being organized in the memory of Farooq Ahmed Mir, one of the founder members of Martial Art in the valley.
The 3-days championship was declared open by Nissar Hussain, Vice-President (K) Jammu and Kashmir Taekwondo Association who was the chief guest on the occasion. Over 200 players drawn from various schools and clubs of District Budgam are taking part in the event.
Atul Pangotra (NIS), Technical Director Jammu and Kashmir Taekwondo Association was guest of honour on the inaugural function.
The championship is being organized under the supervision of Ashiq Hussain, organising secretary.
Mohammad Saud Bhat, International Taekwondo Medalist, Mohd Maqsood and Ajay Paul Gill were also present on this occasion.
All the gold medal winners of the championship are eligible to represent district in the upcoming State championship from where they will be selected for National Championships.
