Over one thousand Obstetricians & Gynaecologists from across the country have already registered for it while many more are waiting to be registered, he informed.
Elaborating on the importance of the course, Dr Jitendra Singh said if it becomes possible to bring up a work force of medical professionals capable of controlling or preventing Diabetes in pregnancy, this may pave the way for interrupting generation to generation transmission of diabetic tendency and thus prove a major breakthrough in preventing rapid spread of Diabetes in India.
Justifying an exclusive speciality training course on the subject of “Diabetes in Pregnancy”, Dr Jitendra Singh said the course was necessitated because target levels for control of Blood Sugar are much lower during pregnancy and monitoring criteria also quite specific. In addition, with discreet management, Gestational Diabetes of Pregnancy can be reversed after delivery or else it may lead to Type 2 Diabetes in the subsequent period, he said.
