JAMMU, Oct 1: Superb all-round show by Sadiya Wani, fabulous bowling display by the duo of Mariya Noorain and Arveen Riyaz, coupled with sensible batting display by the trio of opener Bawandeep Kaur, skipper Rudrakshi Chib and dependable Ananya Sharma guided Jammu and Kashmir to a huge 107-run victory over Arunachal Pradesh in the Plate Group Round II match of the Womens Under-19 One Day Trophy at Railway Ground, Bhubaneshwar, today.
Earlier, batting first, J&K scored a decent total of 165 runs in 50 overs, losing 3 wickets in the process. Curbing her explosive instinct, Bawandeep top scored with sedate 37 runs off 83 deliveries, while Rudrakshi and Ananya contributed 26 and 24 runs to the total respectively. Sadiya Wani chipped in with power-packed unbeaten 17 runs off just 8 balls. Extras contributed highest 40 runs to the total.
For Arunachal Pradesh, G Yapa was the pick of the bowlers, who took 2 important wickets by conceding 28 runs in her 10 overs, while Omshi Arora claimed one wicket.
In reply, Arunachal Pradesh bundled out for paltry 58 runs in 31.1 overs. Arunachal Pradesh’s batting mainstay, Megha Sharma scored unbeaten 23 runs off 56 balls, while no other batsman could cross the double figure mark. Extras contributed 19 to the total.
For J&K, Sadiya and Mariya were the wreckers-in-chief, who shared 4 wickets each by conceding 8 and 18 runs in 7 and 8.1 overs respectively, while Arveen Riyaz bagged 2 wickets.
In Round III match, J&K will take on Nagaland at Vikash Cricket ground, Bhubaneswar, tomorrow.
