Rohan’s fifer guides Pondicherry to emphatic victory over J&K

JAMMU, Oct 1: Rohan S’s splendid 5-wicket haul and magnificent opening partnership by Neryan Kangayan and Shashank helped Pondicherry to beat Jammu and Kashmir by 6 wickets via VJD Method in a rain-hit Plate Group Round II match of the Under-19 Boys Vinoo Mankad Trophy at Daly College ground, Indore today.
Earlier, put into bat, J&K bundled out for a paltry total of 136 runs in 31.1 overs. Yuvraj Saini top scored with 34 runs off 46 balls, while Ranjot contributed 21 runs to the total. Arya Suvansh Thakur, Aakash Ayoub and Arnav contributed 17, 16 and 12 runs to the total respectively. Rohan S was the pick of the bowlers for Pondicherry, who took 5 important wickets by conceding 28 runs in his 7 overs, while S Saichetan bagged 2 wickets. Nitin Pranaav, Jyothi Swaroop Shishir HR also shared 1 wicket apiece.
In reply, Pondicherry were 118 for the loss of 4 wickets in 20.5 overs when rain interrupted play and the match was decided via VJD Method, wherein Pondicherry won by 6 wickets. Kangayan, who scored fabulous ton yesterday, top scored with 37 off 33 balls, while Shashank contributed 31 runs to the total. Sai Hariram and Nitin Pranaav scored 22 and 15 runs respectively. Sai Hariram took 18 runs off the last 5 balls bowled by Nityam Abrol before the rain interruption. For J&K, Ranjot Singh was the pick of the bowlers, who scalped 3 important wickets by conceding 28 runs in his 6 overs, while Nityam claimed 1 wicket by giving away 41 runs in 5.5 overs.
Jammu and Kashmir will take on formidable Karnataka in the next outing at Holkar Cricket Stadium tomorrow.
