Karnataka scripts 5-wkts victory as J&K suffers 3rd consecutive defeat

JAMMU, Oct 2: Jammu and Kashmir suffered 3rd consecutive defeat as formidable Karnataka trounced J&K by 5 wickets in Plate Group Round III match of the Under-19 Boys Vinoo Mankad Trophy at Holkar Stadium, Indore today.
Earlier, put into bat, J&K bundled out for a paltry total of 115 runs in 36.1 overs. Abdul Bari top scored with 30 runs off 62 balls, while Yuvraj Saini and Aakash Ayoub contributed 26 and 23 runs to the total respectively. Ranjot Singh also contributed 11 runs off 20 balls.
Aneeshwar Gautam was the pick of the bowlers for Karnataka, who took 3 important wickets by conceding 16 runs in his 6 overs, while Dhanush Gowda and Rajindra D bagged 2 wickets each. Yashovardhan Parantoo also claimed one wicket.
In reply, Karnataka chased the target easily in 26.1 overs by losing 5 wickets, thus won the match by 5 wickets. Jasper top scored with unbeaten 55 runs off 72 balls, while Chinmay NA contributed 38 runs off 57 balls to the total. For J&K, Yasir Rasheed was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 4 important wickets by conceding 41 runs in his 7 overs, while Basit Bashir claimed 1 wicket by giving away 14 runs in 5 overs.
J&K has yet to earn a point so far in this tournament. Jammu and Kashmir will take on Jharkhand in the next outing at Holkar Cricket Stadium tomorrow.
