While addressing a press conference, here today, ABVP Jammu Kashmir State Secretary Mukesh Manhas said that Prof Sanjeev Jain’s appointment as Central University Jammu Vice Chancellor was notified on July 19th 2021, but he has not joined so far.
“How long the wait has to be made for him to join? Central University of Jammu is functioning without permanent VC about one and half year. It is almost one and half year now that the CUJ is not having a regular VC. Why the other person is not been picked up from the panel if Sanjeev Jain is unwilling to join? Why Prof Ashok Aima has been allowed to make appointments after he had finished his term as VC of CUJ on April 14th 2020?” he asked and rued that without permanent VC in the university, not only the students are suffering but many developmental works are also stalled.
“In Jammu University also, the Vice Chancellor’s tenure is completed from the month of June and till now, no Search Committee has been formed for the new VC. Even no one knows the status of the incumbent VC and his extension. The Government should clarify on the same,” he added.
ABVP J&K State Joint Secretary Ramnik Sharma said that when other universities of the country are progressing, rank of Jammu University and Central University of Jammu is falling. “We strongly feel that universities of such prominence need full time VC to steer and lead the institution into right direction,” he added.
Others, who were present in the press conference, included Nandita Sharma, State Joint Secretary ABVP and Shubam Raina, President Central University of Jammu.
