Khazir Royals drub Surya Risers by 46 runs

SRINAGAR, July 17: Khazir Royals defeated Surya Risers by 46 runs to consolidate their position in the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Corporate Premier League (JKCPL) at Bijbehara, today.
Earlier, batting first, Khazir Royals powered by good knocks from Jahangir Bhat and Imran Haroon scored a fighting total of 156 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Jahangir scored magnificent 36 runs off 25 balls with the help of 3 fours and 3 sixes, while Haroon contributed valuable 27 runs to the total. Jalil Bhat also chipped in with 18 runs. For Surya Risers, left-arm spinner Rompy Sharma and right-arm medium pacer, Nitin Mehra scalped 3 wickets each, while skipper Ian Dev Singh claimed one wicket.
In reply, Surya Risers bundled out for 110 runs in 18.5 overs, thus lost the match by 46 runs. Sandeep Singh was the top scorer with 21 runs, while Ashwani Bhat and Pranav Gupta contributed 17 and 13 runs to the total respectively. Arshid Sheikh was the pick of the bowlers for Khazir Royals, who captured 3 important wickets in his 2.5 overs by conceding 11 runs, while Vijay Dogra and Manzoor Wadoo claimed 2 wickets each. Arshid Sheikh was named HDFC man of the match, while Jahangir Bhat was awarded for hitting maximum sixes.
Meanwhile, 12 matches of the league to be organized in Jammu region will commence from July 19, 2013 here at MA Stadium.
