KCPS holds marathon for Round Square Service

JAMMU, Nov 13: Students of KC Public School (KCPS) organised ‘Maitri’-a fund-raising marathon under the campaign ‘Support for Tomorrow’ to raise funds to buy blankets and pillows for the underprivileged children residing in a destitute and scanty, here today.
The marathon was organised on the occasion of World Kindness Day as well as Children Day. The funds will contribute to Shelter Home Jammu under the guidance of NGO ‘Jahaan’.
The run was organised in three categories including 3km, 5km and 7km and received an overwhelming response with over 120 runners of different age-groups participating. The winners in various distance categories were later felicitated in the post-run ceremony. All participants were also presented with participation medals and certificates.
Dr Seema Rohmetra, Senior Assistant Professor University of Jammu and Coordinator of Gandhi Peace Foundation Jammu Chapter was the chief guest at the event, while Arti Choudhary, Managing Director of KCPS and Arjun Choudhary, Vice Chairman of KC Education Society were the guests of honour and Principal Amarendra Kumar Mishra, Academic Director Dr Ram Thakur and Round Square Representative, Sonia Thakur were also present on the occasion.
The event was partnered by Bharti Airtel, Monalisa, Sethi Embroidery, Mittal Retails, Counsel Sutra, Green Acres, Sweet Layers, Fit India Sports, Big Bakers, Nutraj and Maunitva Nirakarn.
Mishika Mittal, Round Square Prefect of the School along with Saumya Kapur and Ojas Kapur conceptualized, planned, executed and successfully organised this fund-raising event with technical guidance from Mukesh Kumar, a professional runner from Jammu Runners Group.
KC Public School is the only School from J&K affiliated with Global Round Square Forum of progressive schools and it believes in preparing students for life by inculcating in them the sense of service. It was in pursuit of this ideal of the Round Square that Kceans joined hands with ‘Jahaan’ which is working extensively for uplifting the underprivileged layer of the society by organizing well-planned and comprehensive programmes.
