J&K Police organises 2nd Kathua Half Marathon

KATHUA, Nov 14: Second Kathua Half Marathon was organised by J&K Police under overall supervision of SSP, RC Kotwal in association with Barwal Athlete Club, Chenab Textile Mill, Bonzer-7 Tiles and Darrick Insecticides Limited, ICICI Bank, Lotus Sports and Fitness and 91.1 Top FM, here today.
The run was organized with a strong message of ‘Run for Health; Stay away from Drugs’, wherein more than 1000 participants from all walks of the life lined up at Sports Stadium Kathua in early morning, which was flagged off by Mukesh Singh, ADGP Jammu Zone.
The event was held in three categories including 21 kms, 10 kms for visual competition and five kilometres for non-competitive (Run for Fun). After the completion of the event, an impressive prize distribution function was also held in presence of ADGP Mukesh Singh, Atul Goel DIG JSK Range, and Rahul Yadav DC Kathua along with other police officers and dignitaries.
The winners of different events were honoured with cash prizes and medals. Hans Raj stood 1st in 21.1 kms and was awarded a cash prize of Rs.10000, while Balwinder Singh got 2nd position and presented a cash prize of Rs 7000 and Sunil Choudhary remained 3rd and clinched Rs 5000 as cash prize, besides Manjeet Singh stood 1st in 10 kms male (18-40 years category), Munish Dogra 2nd and Kirpal Singh remained 3rd. In 10 kms runs (female) Manwinder Kour, Mamta Sharma & Pooja Devi secured top three positions respectively and were awarded accordingly.
ADGP Mukesh Singh himself stood 1st in the 10 kms male (Above 40) category, while SSP Surinder Choudhary, Kewal Krishan and Naresh Sharma, SP Railways stood 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.
In addition, medals along with cash prizes were also distributed among participants who completed 10 and 21 kilometres categories.
