SRINAGAR, Nov 28: Second UT level Carrom Championship, organised by J&K Carrom Association, concluded with prize distributions among the winners at Institute of Hotel Management Rajbagh, here today.
Junaid Matoo, Mayor SMC was the chief guest of the event along with Rauf Tramboo, former member J&K Sports Council, Mudasir Khan, president J&K Carrom Association and Adil Rashid Shah general secretary. They distributed the awards and certificates among the winners and runners-up.
General Secretary of the Association, Adil Rashid Shah welcomed the dignitaries and thanked Shabir Qazi, Principal IHM Srinagar for providing beautiful space for this championship.
Around 110 participants participated from all over J&K UT, wherein players showed tremendous and brilliant presentations on boards. During the championship 88 matches were played in junior and senior categories in both boys and girls sections respectively.
In junior boys section, Arsalan, Nazim and Hashim stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, while in girls section, top three places were secured by Ridha Madni, Sheikh Arooj and Hafsa and in senior men section, top three places were won by Furqan Nazir, Aijaz Maqsood and Adnan Afzal Bhat respectively, beside in women section, Sabira Feroz, Sharika Majeed and Fiza Yousuf claimed 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively.
