JAMMU, Nov 30: After a dismal show by the Jammu and Kashmir batsmen in their first innings yesterday, Karnataka batters today toyed with J&K in disciplined bowling attack rather butchered the bowlers with elegance, art and class to amass a huge score of 444/3, thus gaining a big first innings lead of 330 runs at stumps on day-2 of the ongoing Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy match at Kandukuri Cricket Academy Ground, Vizag, today.
Earlier, resuming from an overnight total of 102 for no loss, Karnataka rode on a huge opening partnership of 291 runs between Vishal Onat and Jasper Ej to score a mammoth total of 444 runs in 125 overs at the draw of stumps today, losing just 3 wickets in the process.
Vishal Onat remained unbeaten at 201 runs off 389 balls, while Jasper Ej scored 148 off 269 balls. Yashovardhan Parantap scored brisk 50 runs off 53 balls, while Smaran R also contributed 23 off 29 balls. Onat and Ej in particular mixed solidity and sublimity with aggression and explosiveness to frustrate Jammu and Kashmir bowlers and keep them in all sorts of trouble.
The hapless J&K bowlers lacked attitude, aptitude, discipline and character, besides failing to hit good areas. Sarvashish Singh, Ranjot Singh and skipper Mohammad Manzir shared one wicket apiece by conceding 110, 96 and 10 runs in 32, 35 and 3 overs respectively, while Basit Bashir bowled 14 overs for 70 runs, Dhruv Singh Parmar conceded 56 runs in his 15 overs and Nityam Abrol gave away 91 runs in his 24 overs.
