JAMMU, Dec 1: Activists of Mission Statehood led by president Sunil Dimple held a protest rally and demanded restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, here today.
The activists were chanting slogans including restoration of statehood to J&K, unification of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, PoK, Gilgit, Baltistan before the Assembly election.
Hundreds of traders of Jammu also joined the protest demonstration which was organised from Amphalla to High Court via New Plot.
Addressing protestors, Sunil Dimple urged the Prime Minister and Home Minister don’t play politics on the sufferings and miseries of the people of J&K and restore statehood as soon as possible. He also responded to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s statement wherein he said that the statehood will be restored to J&K in the Parliament after the delimitation and Assembly election.
He said that the Union Government deliberately destroyed the Dogra’s identity and its culture, demography by bifurcating J&K into two Union Territories and also alleged that the Ghulam Nabi Azad has joined the hands with Modi’s Government for the lust of power and did compromise on the interest of the Jammu and Kashmir.
They demanded that the Union Government first restore statehood that too with special status of 370 and then conduct delimitation as per the new census and asked the senior Congress leader to apologize from the people of J&K for his statement that the people should forget ‘Article 370’.
Swarn Singh, Kala Singh, Mohinder Lichi, Sham Singh, Vijay Virdi, Anmol Anand, Rajesh, Daleep Kumar and many others were part of the protest demonstration.
