JAMMU, Dec 2: The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (NPP) president, and senior Supreme Court lawyer, Prof Bhim Singh has demanded relief for the Talwara (Reasi) migrants at par with the Kashmiri Pandits (KPs).
Addressing a press conference at Press Club Jammu today along with some representatives of Talwara migrants, Bhim Singh urged the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha to intervene into the matter and provide justice to these migrants. He demanded relief for Talwara migrants at par with the Kashmiri migrants which has not been paid by J&K Govt in spite of Supreme Court directions to the Union and State Governments.
The NPP chief demanded construction of Colony for Jammu (Reasi-Doda) migrants at par with Kashmiri migrants, release of kerosene oil to these dwellers, release arrears from 1998 to 2021 at par with Kashmiri migrants as directed by the Supreme Court of India and difference of arrears paid at par with Border migrants and Kashmiri migrants, registration of bifurcated and left out families, hospital facility with doctors and free medicines to the migrants in the Talwara Camp, regular release of relief and regular ration every month to the migrant families, relief for the month of Aug-Sept 2021 has not been provided to the migrants, release relief for migrants who are not registered but considered as genuine migrants by the district screening committee Reasi in 2008.
Prof Singh further demanded that relief to the Ex- Servicemen should be paid as they were paid up to 2007, reservation in Govt jobs to literate migrants’ youth and in professional colleges, upgradation of Govt Middle School, Talwara to High School, release of pending ration of 642 families of Tehsil Mahore from March 2020 to October 2020, distribution of sugar pending in Tehsils of Reasi, Rajouri, Mahore for 642 families.
Bhim Singh demanded immediate redressal of genuine grievances of Jammu migrants, who are languishing in depilated temporary sheds of NHPC Ltd. at Talwara, Reasi. He accused J&K Government of discriminating against Jammu migrants at several points. Jammu Migrants called as Talwara migrants have been facing criminal cases filed by the Govt of J&K against the migrant leaders and the case is pending since August 7, 2007. He said that the trial has not even started nor the chargesheet prepared in 15 years.
PK Ganju NPP senior vice president, Anita Thakur general secretary, Balwan Singh- Chairman of Talwara Migrants Action Committee and Jagdev Singh, its president also joined Prof Singh.
