RAJOURI, July 28: In an endeavour, Samote Army under the aegis of Uniform Force, Reasi started school for the children belonging to Gujjar and Bakerwal community.
The schools situated at an altitude of 9000 feet to 12000 feet, more than 40 students residing at Ichni, Banj and Makkidhar areas are getting benefited.
As per Commanding Officer of Samote Army, it was very difficult for Army Officers to convince the parents of these children to send their wards to schools run by Army as they considered that the cattle grazing would be affected.
With due counselling of parents and the adverse effect of discontinuity of studies highlighted, the parents started sending their children to schools run by Army, CO added.
It is ensured that when they come down to their permanent settlements and join the school back, they are not strugglers in class and thus they do not become disinterested in studies, CO informed.
