Henan’s 79, Abid’s five-for help J&K beat Odisha by 95 runs

JAMMU, Dec 12: J&K batsman Henan Zazir’s 79 runs off 94 balls with the help of 8 boundaries and one maximum, while Abid Mushtaq’s five wickets haul helped J&K to script 95 runs win over Odisha in Vijay Hazare Trophy at Dadoji Konddev Stadium, Thane, today.
Batting first, J&K scored 278 runs by losing 9 wickets in stipulated 50 overs. Henan Nazir who came at number-3 made 79 runs while facing 94 runs, while Shubham Khajuria 38 runs off 48 balls studded six boundaries and one maximum and Parvez Rasool, skipper Shubham Singh Pundir and Qamran Iqbal contributed 30, 28 and 17 respectively respectively, besides Auqib Nabi remained unbeaten at 18 runs with the help of two sixes. Abid Mushtaq scored 25 runs off 21 balls.
For Odisha, Debabrata Pradhan, Biplab Samantaray, Abhishek Raut and Shantanu Mishra took two wickets each, while Jayanta Behera clinched one wicket.
In reply, Odisha bundled out at 183 runs in 45 overs and lost the match by 95 runs. Abhishek Raut scored the highest 40 runs off 40 balls, while Govinda Poddar made 37 runs off 53 balls and Shantanu Mishra, Biplab and Debabrata contributed 28, 21 & 18 runs respectively, besides none other players crossed the double digit.
For J&K, Abid Mushtaq was the wrecker-in-chief who took five wickets by conceding 38 runs in 10 overs, while Mujtaba Yusuf bagged two wickets and Ram Dayal, Auqib Nabi and Parvez Rasool clinched one wicket apiece.
