10 injured in cylinder blast

RAMBAN, July 29: Ten persons were injured in a cylinder blast at a house in Maitra, here today.
As per reports, the cylinder kept in the house of retired Army personnel identified as Mohammad Yaseen accidentally caught fire and later blasted.
On getting information, police rushed to the spot and also informed the Fire and Emergency Department.
Two fire tenders from Ramban Fire Station were pressed into service to douse the flames. After hectic efforts of around one hour the fire was controlled and the people trapped inside the house were evacuated.
A total of 10 persons received serious burn injuries and were shifted to District Hospital Rambam in police and other vehicles.
Later, all the injured were referred to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Science (SKIMS), Srinagar.
The injured have been identified as Mohammad Yaseen, son of Ghulam Mohammad, his daughter Parveena Begum, Ayan, Sahil and Shati, sons of Shabir Ahmed, Naseem Begum and Zoya, daughters of Shabir Ahmed, SI Deepak and Constable Ravinder Pal Singh.
A case has been registered at Ramban Police Station and investigation started.
Meanwhile, MLA Ashok Kumar Bhagat, Deputy Commissioner MH Malik and SP Javed Iqbal Mattoo visited the spot.
