JAMMU, Dec 22: Traditional Senior Men and Women Freestyle J&K UT level Wrestling Championship, conducted by Wrestling Association of J&K, concluded at Bajrangi Akhara Shalamar Road, here today.
The championship was organized under the auspices of Wrestling Federation of India, J&K Sports Council and J&K Olympic Association, wherein Ashok Koul, general secretary BJP J&K was the chief guest of the closing ceremony, while Ashok Khajuria, former MLC distributed the medals to the winners.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest lauded the efforts of the organizers and gave their best wishes to the participated wrestlers, while Dushyant Sharma, former wrestler and alumni of Bajrangi Akhara briefed the chief guest about the history and achievement of wrestlers of the Akhara and also gave their best wishes to selected wrestlers for forthcoming National Championship.
Pardeep Sharma, president Bajrangi Akhara and senior BJP leader, Sunil Sharma BJP Sports Cell, Vijay Pahalwan, senior vice-president and prominent citizen including former wrestlers were present on the closing ceremony.
The selected wrestlers in the championship will take part in the forthcoming Traditional Senior Men and Women Free Style National Wrestling Championship which is scheduled to be held at Nandi Nagar Gonda (UP) from December 26 to 27.
In women’s category (53 kg), the top three medals were secured by Samriti, Nitika Sharma and Radha respectively, while in 62 kg, Gulshan Bibi, Ruhi Rajput and Priti Dogra won top three medals and in 68 kg, top three medals were clinched by Sonia Sharma, Kusum Rani and Monika Sharma, besides in 76 kg, Suniti, Sunakshi and Mansi Dogra bagged gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, whereas in men free style 57 kg, Keshav Singh and Bag Hussain won gold and silver, while Chander Dev and Mohd Latif shared bronze medal.
In 65 kg, Arif Khan and Rohit Singh clinched gold and silver, while Saleem and Zubair Ahmed shared bronze medal, while in 74 kg, Ashiq Hussain and Yuvraj Silver bagged top two medals, while Zubair Ramzan and Sahil Dagoria jointly clinched bronze medal and in 86 kg, gold and silver were secured by Munir Ahmed and Bahadur Khan while Rajesh Kumar and Shabir Ahmed shared bronze medal.
In 97 kg, Biniya Min won gold, Nisar Ahmed secured silver and Sanjay Kumar and Nasir Ahmed shared bronze medal, while in 125 kg, Isaaq Ahmed and Javid Khan won gold and silver, while Shalinder Singh and Diler Khan jointly clinched bronze medal.
