JUI-F to back Taliban in Afghanistan

Islamabad, Dec 23: The chief of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), which defeated Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party in local elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, has reiterated its support to the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. Maulana Fazlur Rehman made the observation when he met Afghan Education Minister Mullah Abdul Baqi Haqqani who called on him at his residence to discuss regional politics on Wednesday, the Dawn reported on Thursday.
?The consistency and struggle based on principles led to the success of the Islamic Emirate,? Rehman told the Afghan minister, adding that the world should accept the Taliban government.
Haqqani is among the Taliban leaders who were educated in seminaries affiliated with the JUI-F in Pakistan’s region bordering Afghanistan. The Afghan Minister wanted the JUI-F chief to help extend humanitarian support including food and warm clothes to the Afghan people.
Rehman said: Pakistan needs peace and a strong economy and Islam is the way to achieve that as it is a religion that protects life, property and honour.”
