JAMMU, Dec 23: J&K’s speed skating contingent stunned the countrymen by producing three National Champions including Puneesh Puri, Udhay Narayan and Rajveer Singh in the recently concluded 59th RSFI National Roller Skating Championship (speed), held at GR International School, Rohini, New Delhi from December 11 to 20.
J&K squad bagged 10 medals with five gold medals, three silver and two bronze medals.
G S Khurmi president J&K Roller Skating Association (JKRSA) said that JKRSA will do everything possible to ensure that the skaters from J&K excel in the national and international arena and applauded the National Champions who won medals for J&K.
Pertinently, Jammu Kashmir Roller Hockey had also performed well and won three gold medals for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The medallists were cadet boy, senior boys and inline senior boys, master above 30 boys.
Meanwhile, Secretary Sports Council Nuzhat Gul in presence of Divisional Sports Officer Ashok Singh JKRSA President G S Khurmi, Manager Indoor Stadium Satish Gupta expressed happiness over the outstanding performance of the J&K Squad in speed skating in 59th National competition.
The individual medals holders were Puneesh Puri (Under-11) two gold medals in 500+D and 1000 meters, Udhay Narayan (Under-14) two gold medals in 1 Lap road and 500+D, and one silver medal in 1000 meters, Rajveer Singh (Under-17) one gold medal in 1000 meters, one silver in 1 Lap road and a bronze in 500+D, Samarjot Singh ( Under-17) one silver in 1000 meters and Tamanna Saini (Under-14 girls) one bronze in 1 Lap road.
The team was accompanied by Ratnish Puri, Jatinder Sharma and Kamal Anand as manager, coach and official for the championship.
