Pant breaks Dhoni’s record in Test cricket

CENTURION, Dec 28: Rishabh Pant on Tuesday broke MS Dhoni’s record, becoming the quickest Indian wicket-keeper to complete 100 dismissals in Test cricket.

Pant achieved the milestone in just 26 matches, while former cricketer Dhoni had taken 36 games to attain the feat.

Kiran More (39), Nayan Mongia (41) and Syed Kirmani (42) complete the top five Indians to complete 100 international dismissals in red-ball cricket.

South Africa’s Temba Bavuma was posing a threat to India in the first innings of the hosts. But in the 47th over, Mohammed Shami got the better of Bavuma as the batter gave a catch to Pant for 52.

India bundled out South Africa for 197. The visitors added 16 runs but lost opener Mayank Agarwal at stumps, leading by 146 runs on Day 3 of the first Test. (UNI)
