JAMMU, Dec 28: J&K Pencak Silat teams emerged overall Champions, organized by Pencak Silat Association Haryana in Junior, Sub-junior and Pre Teen Peencak Silat Nationals under the aegis of Indian Pencak Silat Federation at MD University Rohtak from December 24 to 27.
More than 1700 players from 29 States took part in the tournament. The players who performed well were taken to the Indian National camps for the forthcoming Asian, World and other International tournaments in coming months.
Jammu and Kashmir teams emerged overall Champions/ winners from the 29 States, while Haryana emerged as the runners up and Maharashtra stood at 3rd place in the total medal tally.
For J&K the Gold medals were bagged by Shourya, Vedant, Harivansh and Mahika, while silver medals were secured by Idhant and Shaurya and Samiya and Rishvanjas won bronze medals.
Manish Grover, treasurer, Haryana Olympic Association declared the championship open on the opening ceremony, while Capt Manoj, Deputy Commissioner, Rohtak was the chief guest on the closing ceremony who distributed medals among the winners in presence of Kishor Prakash Yewale, president, Indian Pencak Silat Federation, Mufti Hamid Yasin secretary general, Mohammad Iqbal, coach team India, Irfan Aziz Botta, treasurer, Indian Pencak Silat Federation, Himanshu Grover, politician, Tirath Rana, president Haryana Pencak Silat Association, Davender Singh Dhul, Director Sports MD University and other officers.
The championship was organized under the banner of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt of India and Sports Authority of India.
