JAMMU, Dec 28: President of Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and Member International Olympic Committee, Dr Narinder Dhruv Batra visited Jammu to meet the office bearers of the J&K Olympic Association (JKOA) and listened difficulties and hardships being faced by the Association in absence of proper infrastructure and regular grant-in-aid, here today.
The meeting was held at the residence of Dushyant Sharma secretary general JKOA wherein office bearers of almost all the Associations were present. On behalf of JKOA and office bearers of all the Association, Prof. (Dr) Ashutosh Sharma welcomed Batra and thanked him for paying a visit at a very short notice.
During the meeting, Batra gave a brief account of the Olympic game, participation of Indian Contingent in the Tokyo Olympic and performance of Indian contingent in the same. He said that a full-fledged program is being finalized at the higher circle for coaching camps and other incentives to the players, so that performance in the Asian, Commonwealth, AFRO-Asian, SAARC, SAF and Olympics is improved and our country earns a good name in the world in the field of sports.
The president listened to each and every officebearer patiently and promised that he would try to arrange a meeting with J&K Sports Council, J&K Olympic Association and himself as and when convenient and try to solve most of the difficulties expressed by the members.
Dushyant Sharma secretary general JKOA expressed hope that the Indian contingent will give an excellent performance in the next Olympic games under the leadership of president Batra. He also requested Batra to remember his hometown i.e J&K UT by paying a visit from time to time.
