Wani takes stock of progress on Masjid Sharief Talab Khatikan

JAMMU, Aug 3: Minister for Roads & Buildings and Mechanical Engineering Abdul Majid Wani today visited Talab Khatikan and took stock of the pace of progress on the re-construction work on the historic Jamia Masjid.
The 3-storied upcoming mosque is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.5 crore by the Auqaf Islamia, Jammu of its own resources.
Set to be one of the unique architecture in this part of the country, the mosque would also have a 162 feet high Minaret and parks to add splendour to its grandeur.
With centrally air conditioned facility, the mosque, having the capacity of 12,000 to 15,000 Namazies, would also have elevator and inbuilt audio- system. The project was started in the mid of 2012 and would be completed within two years.
The Minister directed the Auqaf Islamia to expedite the pace of construction work ensuring its timely completion. He said that the completion of this projects would added new look and prove fruitful for promotion of business activities in the area.
Mr. Wani  also interacted with the locals and get first hand appraisal of their problems. He said that the demands including installation of high mast lights and rehabilitation of shopkeepers shifted from adjacent to the Mosque would be looked into and addressed on priority.
Earlier, the Minister visited Eid Gah and took stock of the arrangements being prepared for offering Eid Namaz on the auspicious occasion of Eid.
Mr. Wani also visited Shivalik Mandir Panj Bakhtar and directed the Joint Commissioner, JMC for early repair of defunct lights installed within the Mandir premises and install the grills at back side to restrict entry from backside in the Mandir premises.
Among others, Director, Tourism Soujanaya Sharma, Managing Director, JKPCC, T R Bhagat, Chief Executive officer ERA, Chief Engineer, PDD, besides Administrator, Auqaf Islamia, Jammu, Special Officers, Auqaf Jammu and other senior officers of line departments accompanied the Minister.
