JAMMU, Jan 5: Director Youth Services and Sports J&K, Gazanfar Ali honoured the cultural groups drawn from all 20 districts of the Union Territory in an impressive function held during the ongoing Inter-District UT level Youth Festival at Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu, here today.
According to organisers, 100 artists including their escorts have got the nod of adjudicators to represent the UT of Jammu and Kashmir at the National Youth Festival to be held at Puducherry from January 12 to 16.
Earlier, to get the nod of the expert panel of the adjudicators, the young cultural artists drawn from various districts displayed extraordinary skill to seal berth in the selected contingent.
The judges while lavishing praise on the artists said that youth of J&K are immensely talented and the need is to channelize their talent properly, adding that the events like this provide ample opportunity to the youth to showcase their skill.
Speaking on the occasion, Gazanfar Ali was all praise for the panel of expert judges from J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, besides some experts from the Department for picking the artists on merit and skill to represent the Union Territory.
He said that the Prime Minister , Narendra Modi will also grace the Festival with his benign presence in the inaugural ceremony of the National Festival at Puducherry. “To adhere to Covid protocol amid ongoing pandemic, RT-PCR of all the selected probable will be held tomorrow morning before departure of the contingent to Puducherry. The J&K contingent will be flagged off for Puducherry tomorrow,” informed Director.
Joint Director, YS & Sports (K), Bashir Ahmed informed that a total of 344 young artists, with 207 boys and 137 girls drawn from all 20 districts of the Union Territory took part in this cultural gala and performed brilliantly.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Jatinder Mishra, Deputy Director (J) and Conveners of various committees including Sunil Kumar, Sukhdev Raj Sharma, Swaran Singh, Jaffar Haider, Kharati Lal, Sunil Sambyal and Rajesh Dhar.
