Four-day Poetry Fest begins

JAMMU, Jan 6: A four day poetry festival organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) started here today.
The event was presided over by renowned Hindi poet and writer, Prof. (Dr.) Raj Kumar while Prof. Nirmal Vinod; Dr. A.S Amn, Additional Secretary and Dr. Javaid Rahi, Chief Editor of JKAACL were present at the presidium.
The event began with Hindi ‘Kavi Samalan’ at K.L Saigal Hall.
Prof. Raj Kumar in his presidential address said that organizing a literary festival in various languages of the region will promote Dogri, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu.
Dr. A.S Amn in his welcome address stated that the objective of this event is to provide a platform to poets to display their intellectual thoughts before an invited audience.
He said the Academy is going to hold more mega events in 2022.
Dr. Nirmal Vinod said that literature played an important role in the freedom movement and poetry in particular was instrumental to inculcate nationalism among the masses.
Prominent poets who recited their poems were Prof. Raj Kumar, Dr. Adarsh Parkash, Prof. Nirmal Vinod, Shyam Bihari, Naresh Kumar Udas, Maharaj Krishan Moosa, Sanjeev Bhasin, Dr. Dogra, Pawan Khajura, Dr. Parshotam Kumar, Vikram Sahi, Amita Mehta, Dr. Jaspal Singh, Suman Paul and Sonia Upadhyay.
Proceedings of the programme were conducted by Rita Khadyal, Incharge Hindi Sheeraza.
Dr. Javaid Rahi presented vote of thanks.
