10 killed, 3 injured in north Kashmir accident; CM expresses shock

SRINAGAR : Ten persons were killed and three others injured when a vehicle in which they were travelling skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge in north Kashmir district of Baramulla, official sources said here today.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah  has expressed shock over the loss of lives in Uri accident.
The sources said an overcrowded Tata Sumo vehicle from  Boniyar to Brenade, Uri, in Baramulla district skidded off the road and fell into 150 feet deep gorge.
Six persons were killed on the spot and seven others were wounded critically.
However, immediate rescue operation was launched and the injured were shifted to hospital, where four more succumbed to their injuries.
The condition of other injured is also stated to be critical.
In his condolence message to the bereaved families, the Chief Minister has conveyed his grief and sympathy to them. He has also sanctioned ex-gratia relief of Rs one lakh for the deceased and Rs 10,000 for the injured.
The Chief Minister directed the District Administration and Health Department for providing all possible medicare to the injured. He has prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls and early recovery of the injured.
Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Dr Farooq Abdullah and Member of Parliament Mohammad Shafi Uri have expressed deep grief shock over the loss of precious human lives in a road accident.
In the separate condolence messages they have conveyed their sympathy to bereaved families and prayed for peace to the departed souls. They also prayed for early recovery of the injured.
Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din and Minister for CA&PD and Transport, Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan have expressed deep grief and shock over the loss of precious human lives in a tragic road accident which took place in Boniyar area of Uri in Baramulla district early morning today.
In their separate condolence messages, they conveyed their sympathy with the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. They also directed the district administration to provide best medical assistance to the injured persons and also prayed for their speedy recovery. (AGENCIES)
