JAMMU, June 5: The second batch of 44 students including 32 girls, 9 boys and 3 teachers of Shangrilla Public School, Jammu left today for Moungri to participate in the J&K Himalayan Trekking Programme, being organized by Tawi Trekkers J&K.
The group was flagged off by School Principal, Sureshta Khajuria in a simple function. Puneet Sharma, a national sport climber accompanied the group as group leader.
During the 3 days venture the participants, in the age group of 10 to 14 years, would trek for about 15 to 20 kms and would learn the art and craft of rock climbing under the supervision of Evertester Ram Singh Slathia, the Field Director of the programme.
The trekkers would also have interactions with the local people to learn about the local culture and fauna and flora of the area.
Prominent among others present on the occasion included the General Secretary of Tawi Trekkers J&K, Ram Khajuria and senior member of the club, Amit Khajuria.
