JAMMU, Feb 5: Basant Panchami was celebrated today with traditional fervour by various educational institutions and other organizations across Jammu.
Aryans Group of Colleges Rajpura today celebrated Basant Panchami with full vivacity and festivity at its campus. The College was decorated with yellow flowers and rangoli, women staff wore yellow cloth, flower tiaras and yellow sweets were also distributed among all present. The kites flying activity was also held. It was to showcase the vibrant tradition of Punjab depicting the spirit of inner freedom, creative pride and zest for life.
The Department of Music of Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Govt PG College for Women, Gandhi Nagar in collaboration with Department of Sanskrit celebrated Basant Panchami to symbolize happiness and joy on the day of incarnation of Goddess Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge and art. Mantras were chanted by Dr Vajinder Kumar, HoD Department of Sanskrit whereby Goddess Saraswati was invoked to bless all with art, knowledge and wisdom. Principal of the College Dr Sangita Nagari was the chief guest of the event. The event was organised by Dr Priyanka Sharma and Prof Rahul Sharma.
Basant Panchami was celebrated at Govt Degree College Marh on virtual mode wherein slogan writing, card making and rangoli making competitions were organised. The event commenced with Saraswati Vandana, thereafter students displayed their talents in the competitions. The whole programme was organised under the guidance of College Principal, Prof Aekta Gupta.
The Department of Mathematics and Dogri of Govt Degree (GDC) College Vijaypur jointly organised a Saraswati Vandana and devotional songs singing contest with the aim to mark the significance of the Basant Panchami in the life of every devotee and to seek the blessings of Goddess Saraswati, wherein students of the College enthusiastically participated in the contest. The event was conducted under the able guidance of College Principal Dr Sangeeta Sudan and coordinated by Dr Shittal Sharma and Dr Sunil Kumar Mangoch, besides the event was adjudicated by Prof Anil Bhagat and Dr Vimpal Sharma.
NSS unit of GDC Kalakote in collaboration with Literary Club organised online multi-cultural activities on the occasion of Basant Panchami under the guidance of College Principal Dr Romesh Kr. Gupta. The Principal stressed upon the importance of the festival symbolising the harbinger of spring which is being celebrated all over India with great pomp and show. The programme ended with a vote of thanks which was given by Priyanka Kumari NSS PO.
The Basant Panchami was observed by GDC Nowshera by organising a series of multicultural activities under the chairmanship of College Principal Dr Surinder Kumar Sharma. While speaking on the occasion he highlighted the importance of the Basant Panchmi in our culture and society, wherein a large number of students and faculty members participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. The main aim of the program was to educate the students about the importance of the Day. The whole event was organized by Dr Gorav Sharma.
Dogra Higher Secondary School celebrated the Day by holding a virtual special assembly prayer wherein the tiny tots shared their images and videos beautifully decked up in yellow attire. The children offered prayers to Goddess Saraswati. The students were also awarded the titles of Basant Prince and Basant Princess on this occasion virtually who performed in the activities. Managing Director Kunwar, Gambhir Dev Singh Charak extended gratitude and motivated the students to be progressive learners, setting big goals and putting dedicated efforts as a promising and flourishing human harvest.
To celebrate the Basant Panchmi and to promote the traditional folk cultural of J&K, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) held Basant Panchmi Mahostav in collaboration Sangam Tru Art Production and National College of Computer Education at Open Air Theatre Durga Bhawan Janipur, Jammu. The function was inaugurated after lighting the traditional lamp by the chief guest Davinder Chadha, Head Pujari, Durga Bhawan Jammu along with VK Magotra, former Regional Director, Directorate of Field Publicity, Govt of India and many others. The programme commenced with welcome song “Jai Jai Saraswati Maa”, “Hye Sharde Maa Hey Sharde Maa” and “Aja Vishvan Vo”, followed by a musical played which was staged by artists and student of the Institution.
Nat Manch organized a function to celebrate Basant Panchami wherein the ritual ceremony was performed by offering prayers and reciting Bhajans of Goddess Saraswati. President of Nat Manch, Tarun Sharma threw light on the Basant Panchami and said that it is a festival that has seasonal and social as well as religious significance.
Lagan Society for Art and Culture organized 3rd Basant Utsav by organising different activities at JK Convent Subash Nagar. The Bhajan Sandhya was inaugurated with the lighting of traditional lamps by the dignitaries followed by a welcome address by vice president of the Society, Sonia Verma. The function was started with Saraswati Vandana by the students of the institution. Advocate Sandeep Gupta (Patron of the Society) appreciated the efforts of the Society and also said these types of functions help to encourage the youngsters towards tradition and culture.
Basant Panchami was celebrated by Sharda Sangeet Sadan by holding an online programme in which Satyabhama Dubey, the Chairperson of the Institute enlightened the students by illuminating the importance of this festival. The students of the Institute made this occasion more bright and colourful by chanting Shalokas and Ragas. Mohit Sharma contributed his efforts to make this event a success.
