Gang selling stolen vehicles busted, 5 arrested

SRINAGAR, Feb 10: Ganderbal police today busted a gang by arresting five persons and recovering five stolen vehicles.
As per police, during the investigation of Case FIR No. 231/2021 of PS Ganderbal, an investigating team of PP Shadipora under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ganderbal, arrested five persons identified as Riyaz Ahmed son of Rajan, resident of Ganderbal, Riyaz Ahmad Rather, son of Abdul Gani Rather, resident of Nasrullapora Budgam, Showkat Ahmed Bland, son of Habibullah, resident of Bijbehara Anantnag, Bilal Ahmad Danga son of Bashir Ahmed resident of Dangmohalla, Wakoora and Sakhi Rather, son of Ghulam Rasool Rather, resident of Wakoora.
During questioning, police confirmed their involvement in the commission of the crime.
“On their disclosure stolen vehicles viz, Hyundai Creta (01No.), Vitara Breeza (01No.), Hyundai i20 Sports (01No.), Maruti Swift VDI (01No.) and Maruti Alto Car (01No.) have been recovered from various parts of the district,” police said.
The vehicles have been stolen from various parts of the country. “Pertinently, these stolen vehicles were plying in a malafide manner across the district,” police said, adding further investigation of the case is going on.
Police have appealed to the public not to buy suspicious, non-J&K registered vehicles from any unauthorized dealers/persons and buy vehicles only after proper verification from the Police and concerned RTOs.
