JAMMU, Feb 15: Expressing its reservations over the Delimitation Commission recommendations, Aam Aadmi Party has demanded that Jammu must have three Lok Sabha seats at par with Kashmir.
In a joint press statement, issued by senior AAP leaders, Ram Singh Chauhan, Kuldeep Kumar Rao, Rajesh Bali, Amit Langer and Dr Rajinder Thappa said that Jammu region has an area of 26,293 sq kms as compared to 15,948 sq kms area of Kashmir region and therefore Poonch-Rajouri Districts instead of attaching with Anantnag, should form a separate-third Lok Sabha constituency comprising of Districts of Reasi, Poonch & Rajouri.
They alleged that recommendations of the commission have been drafted more to suit a particular political party than the electorates in general. “It appears that half done exercise of previous De-limitation commission of 1977 and 1995 during the period of Congress and NC regarding mass scale deprivation, neglect and discrimination with the areas, not suiting them has now been completed by the present dispensation being ruled in Delhi and by proxy, in J&K,” they maintained.
