KATHUA, Feb 19 : Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP, R C Kotwal today recovered 55 bottles of illicit liquor (JK Special Whisky) of 180ml each in the jurisdiction of Police Station, Rajbagh and arrested one bootlegger in this regard.
Police said it received an information from the reliable source yesterday that one person namely Mangu Ram, son of Dev Raj of Juthana tehsil and district Kathua was involved in transportation and selling of illicit liquor to people of the concerning area. Acting swiftly, police team led by PSI Swaran Singh Manhas incharge Police Post (PP), Marheen under the supervision of SDPO Border, Sachit Mahajan laid a special naka /checking duty near Banyari bridge and apprehended the drug peddler. On his physical checking, 55 bottles of illicit liquor (JK Special Whisky) of 180/ml each were recovered from his possession which he had kept in order to gain illegitimate profit. Thereafter all the recovered consignment of illicit liquor was seized he was arrested on the spot. An instant case vide FIR No. 28 /2022 u/s 48 (a)Excise Act was registered at PS Rajbagh and further investigation has been set into motion accordingly.
